The Law Firm of Bader, Stillman, & Adler would like to make you are of how social medical can be detrimental to your case. Facebook, twitter, MySpace, YouTube, are just a few social media sites that people love to update the world about their day, vacations, events, etc.

No one ever thinks what the post could come back and harm them in the future. Whether it is pictures, videos, comments, you need to be very leery and cautious about what goes on the internet as it is all public information. What you do on these sites could harm your personal injury or medical malpractice case.

Insurance companies, adjusters, investigators, and defense attorneys will want to uncover as much information as they can in an effort to pay you the least amount of money possible.

If you are posting pictures or videos of events, the insurance can and will use that against you. For example, if you have an ongoing case and are always complaining of back pain, yet you post a video on Facebook how you won the limbo contest, which could be very detrimental to your case. Or a picture of you is posted on Facebook, and you are supposed to be in “great pain” but are on the dance floor with the wedding party. I know you are thinking what is wrong with that. Well, the defense attorney finds this photo of you, blows this picture up, and shows it the jury arguing that you have exaggerated your injuries, and are dancing the night away.

What should you do? Shut off all your media accounts, or change it to private so that you and your friends are the only ones that can see it. Remember assume everything that you post or is posted about you can be read by the insurance company or the defense attorney and will be used against you. You are not trying to distort or hide anything from the insurance company, but you are avoiding giving them any chance to use any material against you and your character. So remember that the insurance company may be watching you, and anything you post can be used against you in a court of law.

Our attorneys, Eliot Bader, Philip Stillman, & Brian Adler are here to service your needs. Remember consultation is free, and there is no fee unless there is a recovery.

Please remember if you are every in an accident we have many convenient locations in Margate, Palm Beach County, Jupiter, Fort Pierce, Port Saint Lucie, Tampa, and Orlando just to name a few. There is no charge for seeking consultation from one our attorneys. Feel free to contact our office at 1-800-854-9311.
